Happy New Year! Yes! No matter how far we are into the year, I still want to say Happy New Year. The last one was really challenging. I want you to make this one a really NEW year for you. In fact, I’m declaring it as this year as the year of reinvention and reengineering. I encourage you to make it that way for you every year from now on. Let me tell you why…

Albert Einstein said something like this, “The significant problems you are facing today cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which you created them.” Simply put, whatever boat carried to this situation cannot take you out of it. Let me put this way for you. It’s time to reinvent your life. It’s time to reinvent your business.

You cannot make it in this economy with your current level of thinking. You need to rethink your life or business. How do you do so? The answer is simple… new knowledge. Make it a goal to acquire new and fresh skills this year. Prepare yourself to make more money, get a promotion, and be more marketable in this new economy. Do you follow?

I don’t know where you are in your journey. I don’t know what pieces of the puzzle you are missing. Whatever it is for you, go get it! Maybe you need to master the art of selling, customer service, time management, or you just need to learn communicate with confidence. Maybe it’s the new system in your workplace you need to master in order to provide better support to your customers. Go for it!

The world is changing at a rapid pace. Companies are forced to reinvent and reengineer their business processes. They have new and different problems. Your job should be to find out what those problems are.

Then go get the necessary skills that can solve them. That’s how you achieve lifetime employability. That’s how you will become indispensable in the workplace, all right? If you are an entrepreneur, it’s the same for you.

Listen, if I didn’t follow the advice I’m giving you here, I would still be a janitor at 163rd Mall in Miami mopping floors. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with those that are doing it. There are some that are just fine with it. But, it’s not me. I deserve better in life. That’s why I had to reinvent myself.

Who I was as a broke immigrant unable to speak English was not enough. I needed to become a different kind of person that truly deserves more. So, go ahead decide what you need to master or who do you have to become. Go after it.

In most cases your company already has all the trainings and resources you need. Take advantage of them. Start reinventing yourself now. And make this a great year for you… by choice.

Press on!

I am going to share this video with them and introduce you and your talents. Your story in itself is enough to motivate anyone who is willing to change their lives by changing others first. I read, listen to and watch quite a number of inspirational and self-help motivators. I’m always able to take something away from each experience. What I learned here is “Re-Invent Myself.” We’ve all heard it 100 times over but this time I really dug into what that would mean to me. I am changing everything else, why not re-invent mySELF in the process, it’s necessary for growth. Thank-you

    Hi Rene,
It is like I just found an answer to what I’ve been thinking lately! There is a difference between what you intend to do and what you are actually doing. Procrastination has never helped anyone reaching his/ her goals. I now will do my best so that I can tell you about my progress next time you’ll hear from me.
    Have a wonderful year.

I am glad that you were able to attain success and go beyond a janitor job. At this time many of us cannot even get that position anywhere There are no real “skills” required to do that job but you must be the “right” person. In other words, be like the hiring folks or please them in one way or another. I don’t work for a company and I find your message to address those people’s issues almost exclusively.

I am dissapointed by that since I am a Haitian American and also a trained social scientist and I see disproportionate numbers of us who can’t even get a “janitor” position. I get the gist of what you are saying but it fails to address the real issues that we face.

For instance, where are the resources that we can use to re-invent or even re-engineer a new self or reality? I feel stuck.

Most people apply for hundreds if not thousands of positions and they would like to acquire new skills but this comes at a cost that is not affordable.

I take courage from the poor Haitians who survived that terrible social disaster last year on 1/12/2010. They are not considered a very “skilled” group of people at all.

And perhaps that is why the governmental organizations and the people that supports them justify their pain and detriment but I feel that they exist beyond those principles. I would like to think that I can too. My skills set will not get me there but I feel strongly that there are other possibilities.

    Happy 2011.

    Blessed love.

Nadine, first of all, you’re a great writer! I absolutely love the way you write with passion. Obviously, you feel strong about what you wrote. If I had to start over today, I would gladly start anywhere within a company. That includes being a janitor. I would then unleash my positive attitude to climb the ladder. Attitude is everything.

Granted one needs to have some qualifications. When I was a janitor, I didn

Hello Rene, I am on vacation this week. I have been listening to and reading motivational material for the past 10 years. I spoke to a group of 6th graders. My topic was “starting that spark”. The spark that starts a youth TO make at a turning point in their life. I was prepared, I did not use my notes. It was in my head. I used visual material for each topic. I talked about health and fitness. I had quotes from Les Brown and Dr.Ben Carson. I told them of my training for a marathon. We talked about goal setting. I accomplished a life long dream. This is the start of my journey of a 1000 miles. (a single step) THANKS FOR THE MOTIVATION RENE, RUS

Therefore, I would like request your permission to use some of your concepts and statements.

Apart from that I would like to develop my motivational skill and may you help me grow upto a higher level. My talks are mainly biblically based but different from sermon delivery.

      Hi Mooketsi,

Welcome on board! it’s awesome that you’re out there winning souls through your sermons and national radio show. Kudos! You are as motivational as you want to be.

Just show up being authentic. Be the real you. Strip all imitations away. That’s how you connect. Have fun with your audience. Don’t be too polished and suave. Be human!

Every now and then, exposed a weakness you have and share what you’re doing to excel. Also, really care about your audience. Take the focus of you and make it about them.
      Go it? Press on!

      That’s the magic!

I am blessed and built by your teachings. They are not only an inspiration but wonderful ingredients that have built me that’s far. I want to be a player and not a spectator. Am already a player in several arenas and have experienced alot of cursing from the spectators and fans. I also realize that when playing one may make mistakes but as a player am better than the spectator.
